From a single piercing at the bottom of your ear, it sweeps upward and traces the curve of your ear toward the top, so the whole design reads as one continuous line of light.

Which way is up
Because they climb rather than dangle, ear climbers only look right one way, and this is the part worth knowing before you put them on.
- Hold the earring so the narrower end of the wheat is pointing down, and the wider, fuller end is pointing up.
- Slide the post through your lobe from the front, in your normal way.
- Angle the design so it lies flat against your ear, with the wheat "growing" upward toward the top curve of your ear.
- Secure the butterfly back behind your lobe. The design rests against your ear rather than swinging free of it.
The pair ships mirrored, so the left earring points inward toward the front of your head and the right one does the same on the other side. Once you've put them on the first time, you'll know which is which by feel.

Questions we get
Which way do they go on?
They climb upward along your lobe toward the top of your ear, so the wheat "grows" up rather than hanging down. The pair comes mirrored, so once you know which one is the left, the right is the one that points the other way. If a piece looks awkward when you first put it on, chances are it's flipped upside down; rotate it 180 degrees.
Do I need a second piercing further up my ear?
No. That's the whole point of the design. You wear it in one standard lobe piercing, and the shape of the earring extends upward on its own, resting against the ear. There's no second hole involved.
Are the stones diamonds?
No, they're pavé-set crystals. They're what keeps a piece this detailed at this price while still catching light the way pavé should. We'd rather say so up front.
Will they fall out or spin?
They're held by a standard post with a butterfly back. Because the shape rests along your ear rather than dangling, it actually stays put better than a swinging drop earring of the same size. Push the back on firmly the first time and check it before you go out.
Gold or silver?
Gold suits warm and neutral wardrobes, ivory, cream, camel, and warm skin tones, and reads a touch more classic. Silver is cooler and sharper, and pairs with white, gray, black, and cool tones. If most of your other jewelry is silver, that's your answer.

Better not to. Take them off before bed, before the shower, and before the pool. See the care note.
Taking care of them
Treat these as the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Perfume, hairspray, lotion, chlorine, and sweat are what dull crystal and wear down any plated finish over time, so let those go on first and the earrings go on last.
Wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and keep them together in the pouch rather than loose in a dish where they can rub against harder pieces. No jewelry dips, no ultrasonic cleaners, nothing abrasive near the crystals.
